Had an issue with my We Charge card, tried to use an Ionity Charger at Hesset in Norfolk for the first time. The RFID was not recognised, spoke to Eilli customer services, they advised the card account had be set up and was functioning ok. Tried again no joy, talked to Ionity, they reset the charger and tried again, no joy, Ionity suggested i try to activate the charger via their app to confirm there was nothing wrong with the charger. Followed instructions via the ionity app all ok, allow would only charge at 40kw/h. Whilst waiting called Elli to complain again, they advised to send details, as i have a paid subscription the non account fee for charging was significantly greater than the subscription discount. Was advised they would refund me, received email yesterday advising the claim for reimbursement was rejected and these cards fail from time to time. Not happy and notified them of consumer rights waiting for response.

Hey guys, I just have my ID4 Life Edition 77kWh 10 days ago. Considering if good to subscribe the We Charge service. Is that after subscription I will allowed to do the charging in Shell / BP charging station with have a tick of WeCharge show in the App? Thanks in advance.

I rarely used it due to none of the chargers round here were on the scheme. However, I’m on bonnet, link in my signature. They cover a number of providers at a discount. Be quick if you use my referral for £8 free charges, as the scheme is changing to a different format soon.

So We Charge does have a subscription tier that's free, and it does allow you to access the Shell Recharge and the bp Pulse networks.

Interestingly, charging at a Shell Recharge using a We Charge account is cheaper than using a Shell Recharge account now (it used to be the other way around at the beginning of this year).

There's also the Octopus Electric Universe https://electroverse.octopus.energy/ which is similar to Bonnet. If you are an Octopus Go or Intelligent customer you can get a 5% or 8% discount off public charging.

hi all - how did you get your "we charge"? I have been trying to use the We Connect ID App but as soon as you get to the part where you have to complete your address, the country seems to be locked in as Germany and it won't allow the address.

Has anyone else had this issue?

If I remember correctly I think I went through the app to set up the account and get the RFID card. Maybe try checking your details of your VW account on the VW website (vw.co.uk) as perhaps it's defaulted to Germany?
Otherwise you can try emailing we-support@volkswagen.de and hopefully they can sort your account out.

This sounds about right, I think I did it through the app and I can’t recall any issues. It was over a year ago now so memory not serving me well.
