Hi,

I'm moving back to Europe from the USA in early 2025 and planning to purchase a low-mileage ID.4 (2021 or 2022 model) here in the U.S. I intend to drive it for a year and then bring it to Denmark as part of my moving goods. I’m curious if there are any spec differences between the ID.4 models sold in the USA versus those in Europe.

I’m aware that the 2023 model has differences due to U.S. manufacturing and a different battery supplier, but the 2021 and 2022 models were imported to the U.S. from Germany.

My main questions are:

Will there be any compatibility issues with charging the car in Europe (e.g., different plugs)?
Is the manufacturer’s warranty valid globally, or is it limited to the region where the car was purchased?
I’ve tried reaching out to my local VW dealership for more info, but they just seem interested in buying the car back after a year (-:.

Thanks for your help!

For charging, Europe mainly uses Type 2 plugs and CCS for fast charging, so check if the U.S. ID.4 has compatible ports or if you’ll need an adapter.
