Hi
If you can't connect to Octopus try this.
1 plug in car
2 stop charge on vw app
3 activate test charge on octopus app.
4 Wait for confirmation takes a while.
Please note I had to do it 3 times before it worked.
When you set it up it will default to vw charge when plugged in I just stop the charge and let octopus do its schedule.
Hope this helps someone who's struggling.
All the best.

Recently got a id4 pro, my setup is 6kw solar PV a givenergy a/c inverter & 8.2 kw givenergy battery. This week had a Zappi charger installed, now to my problems. I managed after a few attempts getting octopus do a test charge was successful. Got charging schedule from octopus so I thought all was fine. When I had to get up for the bathroom (old age problem) I checked to see how it was going the 8.2 kw battery was charging but id4 nothing. After a few more trips to the bathroom, each time looking but nothing was happening to the id. After searching through the app found the Myenergi ev settings had 2 small yellow lock symbols showing after clicking a couple of times they disappeared & id started charging so I thought everything would be fine, i found that it was charging from the grid but also from the battery . Plugged in tonight & got the schedule from octopus unclicked the locks again but it started charging from grid & battery. Is there anywhere which gives default settings? not finding octopus any help.

I've just signed on my ID Buzz to Oct.Int. and would like to thank Jaybee for his advice! I persevered with it and it took about an hour of constant "test connection" but it eventually worked. I have a very old dumb charger (Rolec Wallbox c.2015) and chose the Rolec EV Smartcharge (as there was no option for a dumb charger) and Oct.Int. obviously ignored the wall charger bit and just linked with the car directly

I just joined Octopus Intelligent today and it gave me a charging schedule from 11pm to 8am... does this mean it's cheap electricity between these times??

Finally managed to switch to this tariff!

Long story short:
  • Upgraded car to 3.2
  • Ensured basic We Connect service enabled (I only had We Connect Plus) (thanks @karlwoolley)
  • Ensure your profile has location services turned on (go to Users in the car app and go into your profile)
  • Took several tries (probably 30 min after activating basic We Connect) for Octopus app could find the car
  • Once the car has been located, you will need to to a test charge, so plug the car in
  • Car will start charging immediately, but as @jaybee wrote, stop the charge in the VW app but keep the car plugged in
  • Activate test charge on Octopus app (you may need to click the button to start several times if it doesn't immediately work)
  • Octopus app will then display a swimming octopus - you'll then notice after a few min that charging starts up again (this is the Octopus app controlling the charge)
  • You should then see a successful message after this

Sorry to resurrect this thread

I have tried to follow but I appear to be stuck VERY early in the process and not able to authorise the VW login by the octopus App,

I enter the Volkswagen / ID4 version and link my 3 pin charger
But when I add my VW app login details I get a pop up that I simply dont know where to validate and authorise
Agreement Required
Please agree to the term and conditions associated with your Volkswagen account and come back here to try again
I have the app fully tracking the vehicle, weconnect is active on the car.. I simply dont see where I authorise the octopus linking?
I've tried email, the web ui for VW and the VW app

please can anyone help?

I think it may be one of your VW account settings for Vehicle Consent Management. I was using the link https://vwid.vwgroup.io/account on my web browser.

If you haven't authorised VW to do certain activities, it won't play ball. GDPR etc.

I set up Octopus some time ago for my granny charger and yes it works. Sorry but can't remember exact process. However,I do find the Octopus Help people quite good if you email them.
