I’ve been driving my ID.4 for a few days, and whenever I try to use voice control to navigate to a landmark, I get an error saying, “Sorry, unable to connect to the internet, please try again later.”

I can see that I have signal bars, a 4G signal, and the globe icon, so I’m confused if voice control/navigation uses a different network connection compared to the built-in system.

The car is properly connected to the We Connect ID app and has software version 3.0.0.

I've been having this a few times over the last few weeks, just as you describe.

Almost always rights itself later in the journey. More VW server issues?

Voice control and navigation usually rely on the same internet connection as the rest of the car's systems. Even if you have a good signal, it might be an issue with the car’s connection to the voice service specifically.

To be honest, even when it's working I've never been able to get it to navigate to a landmark. It usually just picks something random or claims that what I've said doesn't exist.
I had to turn off the "hello id" feature as it just kept on activating. I really don't understand why auto manufacturers persist in developing their own substandard in house systems. Just pay for Google AI integration for goodness sake!
